Demo Day returns for the second time and Transcendz is proud to be given the opportunity to assist in organizing the event. Demo Day served as a platform for start-ups to showcase their businesses and pitch their ideas to take their businesses to the next level. 5 selected start ups under Cyberview Living Lab Accelerator (CLLA) program (powered by Finnext Capital, FNC) pitch their business to investors and ecosystem players to seek for further funding and collaboration. This time we have 10 startups from others organization including Setia Haruman, MaGIC and MDec taking part in the pitch, hence, the name “Demo Day +”.
Cyberview started their story in Oct 1996, taking their first role as a landowner. After dedicating themselves to this role over the past 10 years, they are proud to have received a new mandate by the Malaysian Government to spearhead the development of Cyberjaya, one of the Malaysia’s first cybercities. This gave them the opportunity to create a Global Tech Hub that empowers the technology community and translate them into an economic booster, enabling innovation, creation and worldwide businesses.
In collaboration with Smart City and Living Lab, Cyberview have successfully led the start-ups to nurture and grow their businesses with the best of solutions and practices. Some success stories from these collaborations include MoneyMatch, Ittify, The Lorry etc.
We were excited to have served at Demo Day +, held on the 2nd of Oct 2017 at CoInnov8, Cyberjaya. The event attracted more than 100 participants, who are accredited investors, ecosystem players, entrepreneurs and even students. This created a good opportunity for networking and collaboration between the attendees.
The Demo Day + kick-started with the welcome remarks by Mr Najib Ibrahim, the Acting Managing Director of Cyberview. Mr Najib expressed his gratitude towards the participants and partners who came and made this event a success.
The next agenda was the pitching session, where the 10 start-ups from different industries were invited to give a 3 minutes presentation about their business to potential investors.
Second session of demo presentation was done by the 5 start-ups selected by CLLA-FNC. They were short-listed from the previous pitch and were required to undergo a 5-month training where they were provided with marketing, legal, IT, fundraising and hands-on support in helping the company to be investment-ready.
Each start-ups were given 7 minutes to talk about their products and company and subsequently 1 minute to answer the questions from the floor.
The evening ended with a photo taking session and serving of tantalizing refreshments. Many participants can be seen networking and checking out the startups’ demo stations while enjoying the meal. The Demo Day + came to a yet another successful end at 5.45pm.
